BOUQUISSIMA 6TH MEETING

From the Editor

April marks the end of the first quarter, it is a time to reflect on the year thus far. We asked ourselves a couple of questions such as, what were our hopes and aspirations for the year and what did we accomplish thus far. First, we wanted to use this newsletter not only as a communication tool but also as a platform for our members to express themselves. We also want to use this newsletter to highlight personal and professional success. Most importantly we want this newsletter to be a compass to where we would like to take this initiative to. A change is coming and we hope you enjoy it.

At our last meeting we talked about

our last book : The Truth about Men by DeVon Franklin. As the recurring theme was an expression of gender psychological differences; we spent most of our time discussing personal experiences and beliefs as well as the power of self-control.

Member Spotlight

I’m Manon Karamoko, mother of two adorable children, double batting currently as CEO and CFO of Unilever Côte d’Ivoire covering Francophone West and Central Africa. Originally from Ivory Coast, I grew up in Abidjan and after high school went to France where I studied Finance and Management in CEFAM (Centre d’Etudes Franco Américain de Management) for two years and then transferred to Boston in the US where I graduated for both a Bachelor of Finance and also a French Maîtrise of Management.

I worked two years and then did a Masters degree in Accountancy. I worked a few years in the US as an accountant and then moved back home working with Microsoft a few years, Novartis and then Unilever. I have about 19 years of experience in finance and accounting but also in strategic management which served me today in my current role.

My purpose is to inspire younger generations especially young women to believe in themselves and contribute strongly in the development of Africa and of this world. AWLA fits exactly with my purpose in life because it’s all about women empowerment. Women are at least 50% of this world and if we start contributing just like men, we can make this world a greater place to live for our children and future generations so I want to encourage all young women to serve the same purpose and make the future of Africa in particular brighter.
